Ankara: The Turkish authorities announced that 73,836 illegal immigrants have been deported to their countries since the beginning of this year.

The Turkish immigration department stated, in a report issued by it, that 2,383 irregular migrants were deported to their country between August 19 and 25.

The report pointed out that the Turkish authorities have managed to thwart attempts to enter the country by 200,897 illegal immigrants since the beginning of this year, including 5052 immigrants during the last week of August.

It is worth noting that the Turkish-Bulgarian and Turkish-Greek borders and Turkish beaches are witnessing an increase in the number of illegal immigrants taking the land or sea route in the hope of reaching a European country. The Turkish police use various methods to prevent infiltration attempts across its borders.
