Doha: Qatar said yesterday it was following developments in the Libyan capital Tripoli with great concern and called on all parties to avoid escalation, stem bloodshed, give priority to the voice of wisdom and the interests of the Libyan people, and settle differences through dialogue.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Foreign Ministry stressed the need for the Libyan parties to work to ensure the protection of civilians and facilities, and to consider this a top priority.

The Ministry reiterated Qatar’s full support for the Libyan political path, the relevant Security Council resolutions, and all peaceful solutions that preserve Libya’s unity, stability and sovereignty, and achieve the aspirations of its people for development and prosperity.
